Alan Burnett wrote "Freakazoid Is History!" and the original script for "Dexter's Date" (which was rewritten by Paul Rugg to add the musical number "Bonjour Lobey"). He is best known as a producer-writer on Batman: The Animated Series. He continues to be involved as writer and producer on Warner Bros. Animation's DC Comics projects.

Although Burnett was part of the initial Freakazoid! development (along with Bruce W. Timm and Paul Dini), he had little to do with the final show besides the two episodes he wrote.

His episode "Freakazoid is History!" contains a short parody of Gargoyles, a series co-created by Burnett's former fellow Batman writer Michael Reaves.
